Dov Weissglas, former senior adviser to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Yedioth Ahronoth, March 24, 2008:

"The more bogged down the negotiations between us and the Palestinians on a permanent settlement become, the more wisdom and courage Israel must show in the conduct of its policy toward the Palestinian Authority. … Under the present circumstances, Israel must help improve the living conditions in the PA in such a way as to make it clear to the Palestinian public that its current leadership is succeeding in bettering its life. Only broad recognition by the Palestinian public that the PA’s conciliatory policy toward Israel does well by the Palestinians, will stabilize the current PA.”
